Clarence Moriwaki presentation on Japanese American Exclusion during WWII

In March of 1942, 227 Japanese Americans were forcibly removed from their homes on Bainbridge Island by the US Army. Starting with this small community, a national strategy began, with more than 120,000 Japanese American men, women, and children forcibly removed and incarcerated during World War II.

Anacortes Museum presentation at the Library

The Anacortes Museum will host a series of presentations in 2020 on the multicultural history connected to Anacortes’ working waterfront and beyond. Speakers will present on diverse subjects relating to both immigrant communities and Coast Salish history. The series will explore cultural intersections and barriers locally and regionally. The first event is at 7 pm on January 22, 2020 at the Anacortes Public Library.
